What happens next...

Address Update

You have opted to use our Council Tax assistance services to make changes to your existing Council Tax Account, correspondence will now be sent to your local council by post, to both advise of your old address cancellation and setup of your new property. If you are moving from one council district to another we will contact both councils so you may receive two confirmations from each (if applicable)

Once correspondence has been sent, the average time for councils to update this is 14-21 days, this time frame can vary depending on each council & staffing. Confirmation via post will usually include confirmation of cancellation and/or your new payment schedule for your new property.

Important: If any of the details shown on your confirmation email are incorrect for your Council Tax, you will need to update us as soon as possible: contact@my-council.uk.

Your new payment schedule

Once the update is complete you will receive confirmation via post to your new address, this will also include your new payment schedule for your new address which outlines your new payments.

Further information

If you local authority requires further information they will request this via post or may contact you by phone on the number provided, once the address is switched over to your new property they will send you an estimated yearly bill based on your new property banding. This total yearly council tax amount will then be broken down into monthly payments. For any further queries relating to payments/amount you will need to contact your council/authority directly.
